DHI Convention and Exposition
Attend the only annual convention and exposition devoted to the
architectural openings industry! Broaden and enrich your understanding

Technical Education

specifications and positive pressure – to name a few.

To help you compete successfully in the marketplace, we offer many
technical publications and resources available via paper format or
CD-ROM. The Institute is your one-stop source for technical information
regarding the architectural openings industry. The publications are
offered at discounted member rates when ordering items such as industry
standards and handbooks, Collected Wisdom reprint packages or our Tech
Talk packets. This literature is a must for you and your business.
Professional Certification
Demanded by the industry, valued as technical experts and considered a
key industry resource, Architectural Hardware Consultant (AHC) and
Certified Door Consultant (CDC) certification can be earned through the
Institute. Prove your expertise by becoming one. Take advantage of the
technical schools and IECs offered to obtain your certification. We are
committed to supporting consultants by promoting them and their value to
others in the industry. The first step to becoming a consultant is to
serve as an apprentice. You have the option of applying for the
Apprentice Hardware Consultant classification, Apprentice Door
Consultant classification, or both, depending upon your business
function. Individuals with the necessary business experience who have
served at least three years in the Apprentice Program may apply for
consultant classification.
Doors and Hardware Magazine
This monthly magazine is the only publication dedicated to the total
openings industry, and provides you with the best and most current
information you need to stay knowledgeable in your field. Stay
up-to-date with what’s happening in the total openings industry, as
well as the commercial construction industry.
The Plan Room Newsletter
Every other month you will receive this publication, which will give you
access to the happenings of DHI and the industry, including upcoming
events, new members, and a more personal look at the activities of your
chapters, national committees and task forces. Tech Talks and other
important bulletins are sent in conjunction with the newsletter,
providing you with valuable tools to increase your knowledge of the
industry and the Institute.
