Consultants ... Architectural Hardware Consultant (AHC) and Certified Door Consultant (CDC) are the certification designations that are recognized as marks of excellence throughout the industry. DHI awards credentials to individuals who have spent the required time in the industry and who have passed the certification examination. A consultant serves a minimum of two (2) years in the industry prior to apprenticeship. Then the consultant spends three (3) years as an apprentice to become an AHC or CDC. During this period consultant has four (4) levels of technical training within a discipline, and then must pass a two-day, 8 hour per day exam. If he or she does not pass, they must wait 6 or 12 months to be re-examined, depending on the exam portion not passed. AHC / CDC consultants in our chapter...
